Crawford began his career in Austin, Texas in 1996 as a stills photographer on feature films. He then moved to Paris where he assisted esteemed fashion photographer, Jacques Olivar, redirecting his focus from film to fashion and broadening his aesthetic sense.

Upon moving to New York City in 1999, Crawford continued photo assisting with many top NYC fashion and portrait photographers. In the spring of 2002 he was introduced to Marc Baptiste, which led to a four-year position as his first assistant. They worked with clients such as Nike, Original Penguin, Reebok, Vanity Fair, Cosmopolitan, German Glamour and Elle on celebrity, fashion and music shoots throughout North and South America, Europe, Africa and the Caribbean.

Through the diversity of photographers he’s assisted and the many locations and sets that he’s lighted and consulted on, Crawford is capable of deciphering and translating an array of aesthetic concepts and art direction for a wide range of clients. He has done so on several of his own cd packaging, advertising and editorial assignments, including consulting actors on the feature film, “The Devil Wears Prada.”

He now works independently as a portrait, music and fashion photographer. His editorial contributions include Visionaire, Trace, Essence, Vibe, Fader, Clam, Vis.A.Vis and K Code. Advertising clients include Warner Music Group, 20th Century Fox, Victor Entertainment, Dragon Pictures, Original Penguin and Teijin.
